customizablearmor

The first part of the November update took place last night. While nothing new was set live yet, there are quite a few armor and weapon additions that will presumably be made active during the November version update. A forum member on the Allakhazam forums stumbled across the new files for the armor and was kind enough to post them up.

A few weeks ago we talked about the artwork for the Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection and how it was stated that some of the armor in the illustration is about ready to make an appearance in the game. Well it would seem that the interview was correct! Some of the pieces seen bear a striking resemblance to the armor seen in the artwork for the collection.

What’s more is that the armor appears that it could be customizable! One example can be seen above as it appears the armor gets added onto. Could this be the new “item system” Squre Enix teased in the version update notice? How will it work? Another large question is where will these items be obtained? Could these be additions to Nyzul Isle assault? We’ve heard in the past that the developers had more ideas of moving up more floors, going down floors etc. Or could these new armor sets be available from a new area? Such as the Walk of Echoes? We’ll find out in just over a week when the update goes live November 9!

Everyone knows stats>appearance so unless you can change the appearance of the gear with the best stats no-one is going to use it.

If no-one uses it it’s just a big waste of time and effort.

Having said that: this armour does look very cool but are they going to make the stats better than the gear that is currently considered “essential”? No.

  2. Kaslo says:

The interesting this is that it appears as if the gear progresses, like it could be gear you slowly upgrade. Though I think the masks could be rearranged on these to better illustrate that (like I think #2 would be the base mask).

  3. Tannlore says:

Maybe a purpose to the “wood burning stove avatar” that gets joked about. It could be that the stove might be used in the item synthesis in someway.

  4. TimTaru says:

I`m gonna take a guess and say these may be Fay Armour upgrades, where trading the Pixie each version allows you to fight a series of NMs that further strengthen the gear after each victory.

Not sure I have ever seen anything more adorable than the navel of a Taru.
