It is our pleasure to announce that the next edition of VanaFest, Japan’s premier Final Fantasy XI fan event, will be held on Sunday, February 28th 2010 in Tokyo!
Attendees can expect this year’s event to be a veritable goldmine of mind-blowing news. Development and operation team members will engage in a talk session and divulge juicy pieces of information such as new content scheduled for upcoming version updates, planned job improvements, and other exciting milestones for the year 2010. The evolution of Final Fantasy XI is far from over, folks!
But save your awestruck faces for the special announcement…and be sure to hang on to your seats when it comes!
Even those unable to attend need not be disheartened! All the latest news and developments announced at the festival will be delivered to you hot off the press, so stay tuned!
This is what I expect:
Talk session: 99% of questions are ‘we can’t answer that’.
Job updates: Either it’s SAM only, or everything BUT DNC, cause SE hates DNC like everyone else in the freaking community. Oh and lolnews about the new summons, which oh yea, DON’T EXIST cause they lied!

Why expect high hopes from SE when it will always be 100% fail.

Yea pretty much, one thing I expect out of SE: take a nice idea that works and fuck it up. Oh and take years later to impliment something.

Sounds like new expansion to me. Exactly what the FF community needs to hear right now with 14 development going strong.
Bring back Fan Festival to the US!
Hopefully they will release something for the NA? Maybe???
Looks like details will be related to both 11 and 14, maybe something that will tie the two together. Also maybe they will release some information on new real world items. Toys or merchandise would be nice.

Oh, the avatars? Big deal! As if Summoner didn’t get a more substantial update last year! It makes me really wish that the hosts of PFA , none of whom are practicing Summoners, didn’t always throw such hissy-fits about them. Way to be an example for the community, guys, by letting yourselves be caught up in a shiny Summoner-related non-issue.
I think it’s more that we were promised something and still don’t have it two years later.
Two years? Hah! Me and my front line Red Mage *laugh* at your two years! Hahaha!
And yet, I don’t remember anything but disdain from the PFA crew when that update hit, just *for* being a reasonably balanced front line update that we had been asking for forever. Just can’t seem to catch a break, now can we?

one thing i noticed there are only these when SE anounses something like toau wotg or the 3 add ons so i say there will be a new expansion
The FF14 client will include an updated version of the FFXI client and FFXI will be free to play if you have an FF14 account.
