Jun 212010

The June version update is here, marking the arrival of “Vision of Abyssea”, the first in the Abyssea series of battle add-ons set to offer epic new challenges to adventurers who would take up arms under the sunless skies of this forbidding realm.

But that’s not all! This update will feature the long-awaited lifting of the level cap, accompanied by a host of new weapon skills and job abilities. Adventurers can also venture into the newly unlocked Walk of Echoes and experience the climactic conclusions of the Wings of the Goddess nation quests. There’s bound to be something for everyone!

Players are also encouraged to revisit the Vision of Abyssea site, where the latest information on the formidable set of arms known as “Empyrean Weapons” has been revealed.

Full details on the version update may be found here.

    damn thers a lb quest!

Way to nerf accension + haste….

  3. Dibble says:

“As the icing on this scrumptious cake of additions, performance-enhancing tweaks are also being whipped up for certain existing job abilities.”

    * The Beastmaster job trait “Beast Affinity” can now increase pet levels to a maximum of 80.
    * The scholar ability “Accession” does not affect the white magic spell “Haste”.

    I’m speechless.

    * The white magic spell “Aquaveil” will now guard against spell interruption a set number of times.

This is good but as I will never sub WHM again – it’s kind of lame!

    * Enmity generation for the following spells has been adjusted: Sleep / Sleep II / Dispel / Blind / Blind II / Bind

In SE speak adjusted means increased. If it’s a positive change they always say “drops have been increased” or “exp loss has been decreased”. Adjusted means you won’t like it.

I hate being disappointed on update days. Everything was awesome until they promise “icing on this scrumptious cake of additions”. I spent all weekend wondering what they could be and, well, it’s nothing. Just an empty statement.

Uh . . . the enmity for Black Magic Enfeebles are most certainly being nerfed *down*. That and Paladins getting Phalanx natively only shows that S-E hates Paladins that sub anything that’s not /WAR or *maybe* /NIN.

Ah, well, I guess Black Mages can Sleep easy now, then (hurr hurr).

      • Squigglicious says:

I assume they wanted to cut down on RDM/NIN tanking, so they cut down emnity gained by using those spells. That’s lame

        • Phinn says:

and in the processed destroyed NIN/DRK, thus making NIN completely useless. my BFF is a career NIN, and he’s about to quit – he can’t play anymore.

I think we could probably all predict that these weapons would be augementable (following the last 3 add-ons) but I’m disappointed it’s Trial of the Magians. It’s been predicted that ToM would become central to obtaining all the of the best new gear and for phase one: message is authentic.

Maybe we’ll actually be killing something >EP in the new areas themselves for these Trials and that’ll form the basis of EXP gain in the new zones? That’d soften the blow at least.

However! Looking at the stats – unless I am going mad the DMG and delay on the H2H weapons blows both MNK and PUP Mythic Weapons out of the water. So, does the katana…

Also, and this must be said:

    Fif.

    Fif-ty gil.

    Fifty gil Fulm-long.

I SO called the lb quest. I lol. hard.

Finally got the patch downloaded and installed late last night. Checked the wiki to see that requirements for the removal of the LVL75 cap. Realized I had 1.5 merits currently on my character. Logged out. Very anti-climatic.

    • Squigglicious says:

Don’t feel bad…I had just unlocked Warrior’s Charge this weekend with the three merits I earned. Then I found out two days later about the LB. So yeah, I feel your pain.
