Next… time for some MMM talk. Even since they came out, i’ve been doing several mazes a day. I went ahead and got an upgraded tabula (M03) and also purchased the other two vouchers. One for a ‘boss’ type fight, and one for a synthesis maze. Over all I like that theres serveral different things to be done with these mazes. However I would have preferred a few more runes starting out that would allow you to gear it better for a soloable set up. However there are runes you can get that will make the mobs easier, tougher etc. So soloing may be an option after you obtain that.
I’ve also been updating some stuff on the wiki regarding MMM. All those tabula pages? /pees on it. Mine.
I also added a “Testimonials” section to each voucher page and listed a few of the things i’ve encountered so if you’re interested make sure to check them out!

So this past week I finally got a new mic. But its not just any mic.
No sir.
It’s an MXL 990, this mic was recommended by Aniero over at LBR, it’s one of the mics they use to do their recording. The biggest issue for me wanting a new mic was that annoying popping sound I’m sure you’ve all heard on the episodes. It’d occur when my headset moved or the cord on the headset moved, it was very hard to avoid and even more difficult to try and edit out. So I wanted to look into getting a desktop mic.
A few weeks ago i had the pleasure of recording with LBR for their 2 year anniversary. I gotta say it was an absolute blast! I can’t wait for the extra life event so i can go up their and bust kallo’s balls IRL
But no seriously, its an absolute blast to record with LBR and on behalf of everyone at PFA i’d like to congratulate them for two years of amazing radio.
The day after i recorded with them, Sesh from Level Down came and kidnapped me and made me record an episode with them. I almost sent an e-mail to Pikko just to see if i could get on the mog house to say something random. That way i would have been on all the podcasts in one week XD craaaaazy stuff right there.
Figured I’d make a post about what I’ve been up to this week since I won’t be on the episode this week. (yay week off!)
This week I’ve been extremely busy following my own article i wrote up on the main page, “How Long is Too Long” After reading a thread in the BG forums about it I thought it was definitely something that deserved attention. Now we have a decent amount of people viewing the site, but I figured the article might hit a few linkshell forums and that would be the end of it.
Holy crap was I wrong.
I woke up the next day to find that it had been mentioned on a bunch of popular gaming websites and later that night it was mentioned on TV! Holy ????! We broke our daily record for hits let alone our monthly record. It’s just absolutely crazy. It’s a bit weird seeing “via PetFoodAlpha” on all these gaming sites i read regularly its like… “wow thats me!” I’m curious to see if SE will say anything on the matter, with the amount of attention this story has received i think it will be difficult for them not to. Theres many sides and arguments being made about this right now so i guess we’ll just wait and see what happens.
This week i’ve also been leveling my DRK some more, got it up to 42 this afternoon which means just one more level until i can start my AF weapon quest. I’m enjoying the job so far, while it’s not my favorite out of the jobs i’ve leveled it definitely offers something different then just meditating, waltzing and jumping on stuff.
Tonight I also announced our new PFA segment “Player Achievements” This is something that actually came to be during a conversation in VanaChat. I guess there used to be a thread like what we’re doing posted in the Alla forums every once in a while and it got me thinking that something like that may be cool to do for the show. We’re always looking for ways to involve the community more with the show so I guess we’ll start this thing up and see how people like it! Make sure to throw up your achievements this week in the forums. Who knows, it may even be selected to be on this weeks episode ^^
Ok so as soon as i saw todays POL news and saw they were doing (more) FFXI Jewelry i couldn’t help by think “ok where the hell is the tidal talisman from?” So i went digging through a few images and heres what i came up with. What do you guys think?
As you have noticed we have a brand new site design! Currently it’s only active in the blogs but within the next few days it will be carried over to the main website. Below is a list of the changes made to the blogs:
New layout with two side bars
recent comments and posts on the right side bar
pages, categories and archives on left side bar
ffxi icons
host bio moved from main site onto blog
*equipment box will be re-inserted when new host bio images are completed
For a long time we’ve wanted to find a person fluent in Japanese to help us translate various things, the POL site for Japan, and more importantly the Japanese developers blog.
Today I received an E-email from skippyg who kindly offered his assistance to us. The cool part about it was he hasn’t even played the game yet. He started listening to PFA and LBR and decided to give it a try. So HUGE shout out.. (or blog out?) to Skippyg! You can see the first translated entry here.
There’s really no end to the kind of news we can bring the community now.. which makes me feel kind of warm and tingly inside. A few things I want to start doing is posting the full news article from POL on the site, not just the announcement and banner from the front page. This is easier than it would have been in the past now that we have the new version of wordpress that allows us to upload images as we write up an article.
I’ve also had the idea of posting a FFXI video up each week just for fun. I’m sure theres many other things we could do as well so if you have any ideas please let us know! We’re always looking for more content to add to the site.
Which reminds me… we’re still looking for new entries for the writers guild! So if you have something you’d like to share with the community get typing and let us know!
