The Silver Seas Route from Aht Urhgan Whitegate to Nashmau is one of the longest journeys players will ever deal with in Final Fantasy XI. One endgame event known as Einherjar lies just outside of Nashmau in the Hazhalm Testing grounds. It seems that often members of a linkshell are always struggling to be on time to events, the ferry makes the task of being on time even more impossible. There are however other ways you can quickly get to Einherjar without having to wait for the boat!

Congratulations to Pet Food Alpha on making it to a milestone 70 episodes! This week (as has been the custom), I will be covering Limit Break 5, the final Genkai mission that allows you to raise your level cap to 75. Genkai 5 has gone through some changes with the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion, so not only will I cover the traditional Shattering Stars quest for the original and Rise of the Zilart jobs, I will also give a bit of information on the new Genkai quests for the three new jobs: Achieving True Power (Puppetmaster), Breaking the Bonds of Fate (Corsair), and The Beast Within (Blue Mage). Please note that I am not going to go over strategy for all of the Genkai fights (that would take forever, plus I am by no means an expert on all of the strategies for all of the jobs, since I beat Maat on BLM, and only BLM), but I will cover the steps you need to take prior to fighting Maat (or Shamarhaan, Qultada, or Raubahn). Congratulations to Pet Food Alpha for hitting 65 episodes! Continuing with the tradition, this McNoob will be about Genkai (or Limit Break) 4–the quest that Maat gives you that you must complete to raise your level cap from 65 to 70. This is the last Genkai quest before you have to fight Maat himself. Continue reading »

Congratulations to Pet Food Alpha on making it to 60 great episodes and finally scoring their AF gear! LOL. This edition of McNoob will be on Genkai (or Limit Break) 3, also known as “Whence the Wind Blows.” This mission requires you to go into the three beastmen strongholds and get a special crest from each one. Each crest is guarded by some extremely tough monsters, including two or three who have true sight (yagudo and orcish) or true-hearing (quadav). What does this mean? Well basically, it means that these mobs can see right through invisible or sneak spells, oils and powders and any method you usually use to evade normal monsters.

Congratulations to Pet Food Alpha on 55 episodes! This will be the second in my 5 McNoob installment on Limit Break quests or “Genkais.” Today I will cover the second Genkai mission that you must complete by level 55 to increase your level cap to 60. Continue reading »

To commemorate the 50th episode of Pet Food Alpha, this Jonny McNoob will be a guide to the first Limit Break (or Genkai) quest, also known as In Defiant Challenge.Keep in mind that there are more earlier quests and subjects that I still plan to cover, so if you’re new to the game, keep reading. Things to look forward to in the future include a guide on getting advanced jobs, how furniture affects things in the game, food, and a general leveling guide, as well as future Genkai guides.

Note: The following is intended to be a general crafting guide. In some of my examples, I will include my own experience with my particular crafts (including alchemy 78 and goldsmithing 39), which may not necessarily reflect the experiences of others. Remember that the best thing to do before starting any craft is plenty of research. I’ve found that www.ffxicyclopedia.com and ffxi.allakhazam.com have some excellent guides for beginners and advanced crafters alike. Continue reading »

This week we have a guide for those interested in using their Wii-mote to play FFXI on their computer! While not a normal McNoob, this one steps out of the game to show you how you can play FFXI with your very own Wii-mote.
*Some basic computer knowledge is required for this

McNoob has not been forgotten! It has merely been on hold for a bit while life has continued to throw the author lemons. I am working on several new McNoobs, including the long awaited furniture entry and a guide to obtaining the advanced jobs (which I’m making a three-parter). Also, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all of you listeners to submit your own McNoobs. If you have anything you want to share with the rest of the world, submit something to the PFA e-mail. Specifically, I’m looking for some job-specific entries; look for a BLM one to come out soon! So without further ado: the return of McNoob! Continue reading »
Last time, I covered basic experience points party etiquette. This time, I’m going to tie up the loose ends and give general etiquette tips covering everything from linkshell etiquette to teleports and having the proper supplies. Once again, I would like to thank the entire BeTheGamer Community and the PetFoodAlpha linkshell on Bahamut for helping me out with ideas and giving us all something to think about. Kazham: So what’s with this jungle?
So, you have been through quite a bit in your short adventurer life. You’ve destroyed beasts around your hometown, braved the goblin filled beaches of Valkrum Dunes, survived the desolate wasteland of Qufim
Are you one of those people who are sick and tired of thumbing through a menu of spells or job abilities every time you’re fighting a monster? Ever wonder how people can say the same cool things EVERY time they provoke a monster or cure a party member? These people have what are called “macros”. Continue reading »
What is Eco-Warrior? Eco-Warrior is a quest that is available in each of the three main nations (Bastok, San d’Oria and Windurst). In it, an alliance of level 20 players is given a mission to kill an NM and bring back a key item for a nice reward: 5000 gil and a page of the Dragon Chronicles. Continue reading »

I’m sure by now that you’ve had the opportunity to do a quest or two in your travels as a new adventurer. If you’re like anyone who plays normal RPGs on a regular basis, you know that one of the basic rules of the game is to talk to everyone. Occasionally when you talk to someone, they will have you complete some sort of task for them. That task is called a quest. Quests can benefit you by giving you monetary awards (gil) or various items and equipment. But there is one other thing that quests do for you: they increase your fame. Continue reading »
