Vana’diel Festival 2008 was held today in Tokyo, with a multitude of spirited fans bringing the JCB Hall venue to life. None of those in attendance were able to hide their surprise and delight as the announcement was made for the confirmed development of three new expansion scenarios. In addition to this delicious piece of news, fans were treated to an appetite-whetting preview of the upcoming December version update, and much, much more. We have taken the liberty of preparing a detailed summary of all the exciting events that took place at this year’s festival for the benefit of those who were unable to attend.

Today is a General Attendance Day, and many customers are coming to the convention. Sometimes employees draped in yukata will POP and distribute some fans. Tanaka, in his own yukata, will POP sometime today as well. If you spot him, make sure to give a friendly hello. We’re waiting here to see you all. ^^

Awhile ago we heard news that the Creator’s Voice Z Blog was going to be getting a overhaul. We were personally exited with the thought of having an english version. However that wasn’t the case. The new blog has launched today with nothing more than a new design. The URL for the blog has also changed to http://blog.square-enix.com/ff11/

The following is from the Creator’s Voice Z Blog, July 24

The present prize for the Soundtrack Campaign, the Final Fantasy XI Premium MP3 Player, has been finalized. So we immediately grabbed a sample. It is a classy looking MP3player with the FFXI logo on it. It looks groovy even when encased in a blister pack, so we dithered for a bit as to whether we should open it or not…..
Entries postmarked up until September 1st will be valid, so everyone please enter!
“A little extra…”

A sample from the aformentioned Final Fantasy Remix CD has just arrived. We’d like everyone to experience the up-beat Club Remix reccomended by Julius. Have you already listened to the sample of Ronfaure? For those who haven’t, please check out this link… http://www.square-enix.co.jp/music/sem/page/ff_remix/
**Warning: This CD is not included in the Soundtrack campaign. The campaign is limited to FFXI related goods. Sorry about that!

It’s been quite awhile since we had a new post on the developer’s blog.
But today we got something new sure to dissapoint all the people that don’t live in Japan for the time being since their is no hint at a North American release. Our translater Skippyg gives us the following for the latest Creator’s Voice post:
if you are an adventurer, it’s probably fixed in your memory, ‘that’ event, ‘that’ battle scene…
It has been decided that Shadow Lord will finally be released as ’sculpture art!’
We have been shown a test product, and the textures and mood have been brilliantly realized.
The issue of [Hobby Japan] that goes on sale today contains photos and other information.
When we receive more detailed information, such as the release date, we will let you know!
— This has been ‘Julius.’
p.s. Don’t forget about [Piano Collection Final Fantasy XI] which goes on sale today!

A couple of weeks ago during our 100th episode we asked for anybody in the community with familiarity with the Japanese language to help us out by translating some stuff. One thing in particular we wanted to translate was the developers blog. Thanks to Skippyg we can now keep you all updated on what’s going on with the Japanese developers blog!
The following post was made last week:
Do you know what today is? (playful chuckle)
On this day, May 16, in 2002, FFXI officially launched. It’s already been 6 years… Children who entered primary school then would now be in grade 6 (*looks distant*(reminiscing)
The evolution (progress) of FFXI is showing no signs of stopping. We’re planning all sorts of things for this year so stay tuned. (wait expectantly)
So since it’s the 6 year aniversary we thought we would conduct a renewal of the blog as well. The design team are currently at work putting together (the new look) so please wait just a bit longer
Please continue to support FFXI far into the future!
