FFXIclopedia was given the opportunity to submit questions and peek into the minds of the development team regarding the Trial of the Magians. The questions were submitted to Square Enix and translated into Japanese. The answers were then translated back into English, and Square Enix provided us with both language versions for us to share with the community.

Q: Will players eventually be able to modify all of their armor and weapons via trials? If so, when can we expect those changes to be implemented into the system, and what kind of restrictions will there be?

A: While system and game balance concerns make it unrealistic to allow all existing equipment to be augmented through Trial of the Magians, we intend to expand the system in such a way that players’ most precious acquisitions can stay fit for active use long after the level cap has been increased.

The plans announced at VanaFest 2010 are just the tip of the iceberg, so stay tuned!

Q: Will there be additional trials added to the final stages of the weapons currently available? In other words, if you have completed a quest sequence to augment a Kartika dagger with +5 DMG, will there be more trials included in the future to enhance that weapon even further?

A: New trials that pick up where the existing ones left off will be introduced in the next version update, with a sneak peek forthcoming on Topics in the coming weeks.

Further additions and refinements are also in the works for future updates. We are constantly striving to incorporate user feedback, and can assure that you won’t be disappointed with the results!

What’s this? A magazine interview with Final Fantasy XI Planner Yoji Fujito? And… it’s in English!? It’s no secret that magazines in Japan have been getting the scoop on a lot of Final Fantasy information over the past eight years, however it looks like some of that information may finally be coming stateside in Beckett Massive Online Gamer.

In one of their newer issues (not the most current, which we’ve been informed mentions Pet Food Alpha and the podcast tour!) they sit down and talk with Yoji Fujito, who some might recognize as the man behind Moblin Maze Mongers. It’s no surprise to learn that he’s also involved the Synergy and Evolith systems as well!

Lets take a quick look at some of the interesting information found in this interview!

While VanaFest occurred a few weeks back, we’re still getting some information from the event! While we’re awaiting what else the Community Team has in store for us, we can take a look at the interview done by Elmer over at ZAM.

Many of the questions asked are ones I found myself wanting to ask the members of the Community Team. With VanaFest 2010 the team finally started to reach out more to the Final Fantasy XI players by making use of social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter. They even held a contest on Twitter where people could win a Chocobo Beret!

The most important part is the Community Teams consideration of using these tools in the future to better communicate with the player base, something that any player would tell has been a huge issue.

“For now, these are just VanaFest2010 accounts and we’re seeing how it all works and figuring out the process. We’ll see how players react and listen to what they want. This is really a testing phase to see what we can do in the future for Final Fantasy XI and its players.”

Let your voices be heard in our comments! What did you think of the Community Team’s use of social networking sites? Should they use them more in the future? What for?
